Dear readers,

Having been to Soul Survivor for the third time does not change the fact that every year I feel inspired and encouraged by every word spoken, the people around and the presence of God.

As one of my adventures on my adventure list (which can be found here), Soul Survivor is important to me because it creates a safe space for me to meet with Christians from different parts of the world and focus on God, as well as learning how to share the word of God with others around me in my daily life. For me being a Christian is not a label or a religion, it means having a meaningful relationship with God. My relationship with God reflects on my personality, thoughts and actions and just like any other relationship, it requires love, trust and commitment.

This year I heard a few messages that opened my mind to certain things about God that I found very useful, I have picked ten statements made by preachers that truly encouraged me:

1. "Jesus loves you!"

2. "God is a songwriter."

3. "The choices you make today will determine the stories in the future."

4. "Lies have no power until you believe them."

5. "You are loved. You are chosen. You have a future and a destiny."

6. "The greatest way to express love is sacrifice."

7. "Shame - a voice or concept that carries the idea that there's something wrong with who we are."

8. "Freedom is not getting found out but real freedom is not having to hide."

9. "Lord, I pray that you will help us to crawl through a field of broken glass on our hands and knees if there is ONE soul on the other side."

10. "God never wants to control you."
