There is Beauty in Everything

ree

Dear reader,

Happy New Year!

Last night my family and I read Ecclesiastes chapter 3, which is one of my favourite chapters in the Bible and I thought I'd share some of the things I learned from this chapter.

In verse 1-8, the writer - Solomon lists the different seasons in life and explains that to each season there is a time for it and I really respect how honest he was and literally did not hold back on addressing the dark times in life as well, for example, "a time weep... a time to mourn... a time to tear..." For everyone, 2020 was a year that brought a lot of change and frankly a lot of hurt for different reasons but one of the things I learned from this chapter as I was reflecting on the year is that it's okay to mourn over the hurt, disappointments and struggles that you've faced this year - it's okay, it was a lot!

However, I kept reading the chapter and found the gold (meaning the essence or the treasure!) in the first half of verse 11: "He has made everything beautiful in its time". Reading this, I realised that in the midst of all the pain this year, I had to choose each time to see Jesus in everything. Although I think it's important to be honest about how you feel even if it's just utterly rubbish, I also believe that there is beauty in everything.

During tough times last year when I felt like everything was just so overwhelming and I couldn't quite understand why so much was happening in such a short space of time, I would lay down on my bed and literally look up (most of the time I was staring at my ceiling but I still looked up as an act of faith), each time I did this, all I wanted was peace, so I would just wait and without fail God showed up every time - in ways I could not even fully understand, sometimes it was through old songs from my childhood, bible stories and just me looking at the people around me with pure joy and gratitude. My point is He showed up every time and helped me see the beauty in everything.

Why am I telling you this? Well because it's something I feel convicted to share with you. You might just simply need to know that there is beauty in everything and maybe all you just need to do is look up (literally if you're anything like me) and let Him show you too.

Yours Sincerely,

Damilola.
