Philippians: Chapter 4

ree

Dear reader,

To read Philippians Chapter 4 and not focus on verse 13 seems like almost a crime!

Verse 13 is a verse I have held close to my heart since I was a little girl and over the years it has become such a huge encouragement to me. Also, I have seen in my life the reality of knowing Jesus as my strength, especially in difficult times.

In this chapter, Paul explains to the Philippians that he knows what it means to have and not have, to be full and be hungry. Therefore, I think looking back on this, Paul knew that during both scenarios of plenty and little, it was Jesus who strengthened him. Without this realisation, it can be so easy to be overwhelmed in every situation as when we have plenty, it's easy to become boastful and perhaps ignorant and sometimes when we have little, it's easy to become bitter. Therefore, this verse encourages us to walk through every situation knowing that Jesus is our strength and this is easier said than done. Still, we can have this assurance by asking Him for strength to handle the responsibility of having plenty and for strength to have faith when you have little.

I believe that this verse also applies to things we aspire to do in this world. Sometimes we forget to allow ourselves to dream BIG and we let fear takeover, which restricts us from going after what God has placed in our hearts to do. Well, let this verse also encourage you that He who has given you that dream, vision or goal, will give you the strength to accomplish it.

My Prayer:

Lord, I thank you for everything that you have done in our lives. I pray for your strength in every situation and that we never forget that through Jesus, we can do all things. Amen.

Yours Sincerely,

Damilola.
