Philippians: Chapter 3

Dear reader,

I believe that when we let go of worthless things in our lives, we start to realise that God is more valuable.

Paul said this intentionally. He was amongst those who walked around acting perfect, judging and condemning others who did not follow the Jewish law. He even admits that he was worse! You see, because of the profound revelation that grace is greater than the law, by Jesus dying on the cross for him - regardless of the man he was, Paul found value in Christ than following laws that were all about meeting specific requirements with no grace shown.

He declared that the things he saw as important - checking a list, following laws and persecuting those who didn't do the same, were "worthless because of what Christ has done" in his life. He knew that nothing compared to this and he lived his life telling others. Sometimes, there are things in your life that you see as valuable or that you've put as a high priority, but actually are worthless. I know I have! For example, my past experience of borrowing clothes to my sisters and 90% of the time they ended up ruined in some way, whether by stretching them or dumping them on the floor in a corner and someone recently said something to me that utterly triggered me. She said casually, "They're just clothes."

This made me ask myself, "Why do I value my clothes so much?"

Then I thought, "What about the remaining 10% of the time?"

"Why don't I have faith that God will bring a change by me lending my clothes?"

So, tonight I ask you the same questions:

"Is there something in your life that you've misplaced as valuable?"

"Why do you value this thing in your life so much?"

"Why don't you have faith that God is more than faithful for you to let go of that thing in your life?"

My Prayer:

Thank you Lord, for your sacrifice on the cross that has introduced us to grace, which is greater than the law. I ask for your perspective in all things to help us to fix our eyes on what truly matters in every situation. Amen.

Yours Sincerely,

Damilola.
