Mondays in May: Philippians

Dear reader,
There was a man named Paul.
He absolutely loved Jesus and through this love manifested a mission to go around Asia Minor, Macedonia and Greece to plant churches and because he moved around doing this, he would write letters to keep in touch with the people he left in charge of these churches, to show that whether or not he was with them, he cared for them and more importantly God was with them. These letters were recorded in the Bible as books - one being Philippians, written by Paul and his friend Timothy.
I love Paul’s letters to the Philippians because they are filled with words of encouragement as Paul encourages the people in the church to live in peace, show love to one another and to not be worried because God is greater than every fear. Paul's words have been a huge encouragement to me too as sometimes I can easily be consumed by circumstances that make me doubt the plans God has for me and forget that to love God is to love people (which can sometimes be hard) especially when some people don't live to show love, but reading Paul and Timothy's letters gives me peace - to know that I'm not the only one that struggles, to be reminded that Jesus loves me so much that He died for me (hence why Christians celebrate Easter) and that even over 2000 years ago, people just like me needed some words of encouragement.
Therefore, my hope for this devotional every Monday in May is for you to also be encouraged, knowing that you're not alone in the midst of your struggles.
P.S. This is my first devotional blog series and I'm so excited to write it all!
Yours Sincerely,
Damilola.
